Description: Music therapy is a field that often feels like more than a profession. It is passion, it is a lifestyle, it is a calling. That’s why it can feel so devastating when students and early career professionals begin to feel signs of burnout and compassion fatigue. How can we marry our passions for music and health without sapping our ability to help? Join us for an interactive keynote where we will share stories and those taboo topics “we never talk about” in our field.
Bio: Chris Millett, MM, MT-BC, (he/him/his), is an assistant professor at the University of Louisville and identifies from a Community Music Therapy theoretical orientation. After a decade, his clinical experience includes a wide range of populations and frequent success in procuring grant and philanthropy funding to serve marginalized communities. Chris’ scholarly interests include the use of electric and acoustic guitar in therapy, expanding music therapists' music tech literacy, and developing clinical musicianship. Outside of clinical work, Chris enjoys partnering with music industry brands for music therapy advocacy and currently serves on the CBMT Board of Directors.
