What are the goals of SAAB? To establish and strengthen a positive and productive relationship between students and professionals of the organization, consult and advise students regarding any concerns brought to attention by students or about students, and encourage and support students' professional involvement and growth within AMTAS and eventually AMTA. Who are SAAB Members? The Chairperson, as the national student advisor, a Liaison to the AMTA Board of Directors, AMTAS Officers, seven Regional Advisors, and seven Regional Student Presidents. What does the SAAB Chairperson do? The Chairperson functions as SAAB's administrator and advisor to the AMTAS Executive Board. She/he works closely with the AMTA Board of Directors and the National AMTA Office to coordinate SAABs work and to keep informed of the Association's ongoing activities. How do I get involved with SAAB? Become an AMTA member, be interested in and experienced with student academic affairs, and become elected or appointed by each regional chapter of AMTA. Regional procedures for choosing vary (see regional Constitution and/or Bylaws). What do people say about SAAB? 1. From the previous AMTA President Dr. Barbara Wheeler on December 15, 2009: "Dear Petra, The Board of Directors is very grateful for the work that you and the AMTAS Board have done and continue to do. We adopted the following motion at our meeting in San Diego: Resolve, to commend Dr.Petra Kern and members of the AMTAS Board for their diligent, innovative, and enthusiastic service and contributions to the annual conference. Please convey our appreciation to those involved." 2. From Lauren Bevilacqua, WR-AMTAS President 2009: "The SAAB Board is a dynamic and creative force. The collaboration between the student members and professional advisors was the most exciting and inspiring aspect." 3. From Catie Alpeter, MWR-AMTAS President 2010: "SAAB is really operating at a high level and offers students in any educational program several opportunities to observe and take part in their model for efficacy. |
