Students Taking an Active Role Scholarships
Thank you for your interest in the AMTAS STARS Awards. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must meet all of the following requirements: be a music therapy student or intern, and encouraged to be a student member of AMTA. If you meet these requirements, you are able to apply for the STARS awards. The American Music Therapy Association for Students (AMTAS) is pleased to offer FIVE scholarships for AMTA student members.
STARS Award-Undergraduate $220
The STARS undergraduate award will be awarded to one undergraduate student.
STARS Award-Graduate and Equivalency $220
The STARS graduate and equivalency award will be awarded to one graduate or equivalency student.
STARS CBMT Scholarship $325
The STARS CBMT award will be awarded to an intern who will be transitioning to a professional and will cover the cost of sitting for the CBMT exam. Applicants must be a student who is currently an intern or a student who recently finished their internship and must take the board exam before the 2023 National Symposium.
STARS AMTA Membership Scholarship $150
The STARS AMTA membership award will be awarded to an intern who will be transitioning to a professional to help cover the cost of their first AMTA Professional Membership. Applicants must be applying to be an AMTA professional member by January 31, 2023.
STARS Internship Allowance Scholarship $220
The STARS Internship Allowance award will be awarded to a current intern to help with expenses. Applicants must be either committed to an internship site or currently completing their internship at the time of the 2023 AMTA Symposium. Applicants must state the place of their internship in their essay.
Applicants must have an interest in being involved in AMTAS at the school, state, regional and/or national levels. These STARS Awards and Scholarships will be presented at the second Student General Business Meeting at the 2023 National Symposium.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
September 15th 2023 @ 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time
A letter of recommendation is also required for this award. Students may apply for more than one scholarship.
Submitted
applications
will
be blinded by the AMTAS Advisor and sent out to the rest of the AMTAS Executive
Board, who will vote on the submissions during pre-conference meetings. The
winners will be announced around the 2023 Symposium. Applicants who are not present will be notified and mailed their scholarship.
To apply,
you must fill out the information below, answer two essay questions, and have a letter of recommendation from a supervising music therapy professor or internship director attached. There must be one complete application per scholarship you wish to apply for. Good luck!
